Davis Sports Deli's
NFL Weekly Picks

NFL Picks - December 21, 2007

At the Davis Sports Deli we get pretty competitive. Between Collin (the fantasy expert), Paul (the Power Rankings guru), Aaron (the West Coast football genius) and Joshua (the East Coast football genius), there's a lot of NFL Big Dawgs around here. Since these fellas are constantly bumping into each other around the Deli, measuring each other's egos with football knowledge, we decided to let these guys loose.

Last week was Comeback Week for Team Kool-Aid, so the guys have decided to celebrate by going all Puff Daddy on us and changing their team name. So, give it up for the new Team Awesome. Not that a new team name can save them from the threat of Team Fischman. With games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, it's a full football week in the NFL. Read our staff picks, then tune in this weekend to see how our guys do.

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers (Monday)

Joshua (Team Fischman): Chargers
The Lightning Bolts have rediscovered their powerful offense and cannot be stopped by the Broncos. This pick is a lock. If the Broncos win, our editor Patrick has permission to publicly humiliate me!

Collin (Team Awesome): Chargers
The Bolts may rest Antonio Gates now that they've clinched the AFC West, but that shouldn't stop LT and the Super Chargers from running away with this one in SD.

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

Joshua (Team Fischman): Eagles
The Eagles will win this game on the strength of impressive offensive performances from Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook. Even if Reggie plays and the N.O. offensive attack shows up, the New Orleans defense won't be able to stop the Eagles from winning this game.

Collin (Team Awesome): Eagles
I've been burned by Philly two weeks in a row now, but after last week's performance against Dallas, I think the Eagles will win again. Aaron Stecker is filling in well for Reggie Bush, but boy did that Philly defense look good on Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs at Detroit Lions

Joshua (Team Fischman): Lions
Someone's losing streak has to end, right? The Lions have played good football at home this season and can put points on the board. So put your reputation on the line with the Lions...I am!

Collin (Team Awesome): Chiefs
Well, somebody's gotta win this game. Roy Williams will miss the final two games of the season and Kansas City's offense didn't look so bad last week...minus Brodie Croyle's two interceptions.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals

Joshua (Team Fischman): Bengals
My logic may seem crazy, but this was my rationale for the pick: The Browns' record is simply too good for the players they have on that team. Also, the Bengals' record is far too bad for the talent on that roster. Therefore, the football gods must balance out the cosmic forces in the football universe with a Bengals win.

Collin (Team Awesome): Browns
The playoff picture is wide open for Cleveland and they certainly have more to play for than the 5-9 Bengals. If San Francisco could handle Cincinnati, so can the Browns.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

Joshua (Team Fischman): Colts
Peyton Manning is playing, so the Colts will win. It is that simple. Trust me.

Collin (Team Awesome): Colts
Houston has looked pretty good in their last two games; but so has Indy. Picking Mario Williams is starting to pay off, but the Colts O-line and offense will be too much for the Texans D to handle.

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings

Aaron (Team Fischman): Vikings
If Tavaris Jackson throws two or less interceptions, I should be correct. However, I do anticipate a close game; even though Minnesota is very good at home.

Paul (Team Awesome): Vikings
The Vikings will control the ground game on both offense and defense. Tavaris Jackson will bounce back and manage the game because he won't have much pressure to score on offense because the Vikings will get plenty of points on defense.

Atlanta Falcons at Arizona Cardinals

Aaron (Team Fischman): Cardinals
Arizona returns for some home cookin' after two road losses. The Cardinals are 4-2 at home, but that doesn't even matter. Atlanta is just pitiful right now.

Paul (Team Awesome): Cardinals
The Falcons are a mess. Big Tuna and Michael Vick could have coached/played in this game and I still wouldn't have picked the Falcons to win this game.

New York Giants at Buffalo Bills

Aaron (Team Fischman): Giants
I'm going to say the Giants will pull out a close victory (sorry, Pat). Each team has a struggling quarterback and a strong defense, so look for another close game.

Paul (Team Awesome): Giants
Hey Pat, I am looking into your eyes while saying this. I GUARANTEE that the Giants will win this game. Even without Jeremy Shockey. They got this.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

Aaron (Team Fischman): Packers
The Bears always seem to give Favre a hard time, but the better team will win this matchup. I have confidence in Green Bay.

Paul (Team Awesome): Packers
The Packers are the Greatest Show on ICE. This game is a lock. Kyle Orton will be on his back very often in this game with Aaron Kampman and KGB on top.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

Aaron (Team Fischman): Bucs
The 49ers haven't made the playoffs since Jeff Garcia was their quarterback. Garcia will remind San Francisco, yet again, of what they're missing.

Paul (Team Awesome): Bucs
The Bucs are just a way better team. Why are all the games in this split so obvious? Is it just me?

Well folks, you've seen the picks. Now, it's up to the players on the field. Who will triumph this week? Will it be the Fischman Bros in a retaliation move? Or will the new team name for Paul and Collin vault them to glory once again?

Whatever happens, nobody picked the Bills so you can count on our Week 16 Review to focus on the HUGE margin of victory the Bills will put on the Giants.

Check back on Tuesday evening for an evaluation of this installment of NFL Picks.
