Fantasy Falafel
2007 Season Week 13

By: Collin "Kool-Aid" Kilpatrick

If you're into fantasy football, then Kool-Aid is your man. This man has served in the trenches of statistical warfare, wrestled with the demons of the injured reserve and solved the mystery of the split backfield. After years of fantasy football experience Kool-Aid decided that it was time for him to impart his knowledge to the rest of the football universe. Each week he combs the league for the best match-ups and waiver wire pick-ups so you can be ready by kick-off. Soak up the wisdom in Kool-Aid's analysis below and if you're still thirsty for knowledge drop him a line at fantasyfalafel@gmail.com.

Now, on to your regularly scheduled Fantasy Falafel...

Hello dear readers. Let me begin with an apology. For the last few weeks I've been battling illness in Brazil. I was hospitalized and evacuated back home to the good old U.S. of A. While this prevented me from being able to write for the last couple weeks, it has also given me a chance to catch up on fantasy football.

We are entering the final week of the fantasy season in some leagues and the second-to-last week in others; so here is your last chance at glory. Make that final push, pick up some guys for the playoffs and earn those bragging rights. So here they are: your top three Week 13 pick-ups:

1. Kolby Smith? Are you kidding me? I know that Oakland doesn't exactly stop the run, but 150 yards rushing and 2 TDs on 31 carriers? Pretty great numbers from a Kansas City rookie who was thrown into the starting role. There is a lot of upside with Kolby, but most of that is based on the Chiefs system. The Chiefs love to run the football and losing LJ and Priest isn't going to change that.

Smith will not only start in Week 13, he should also have the green light for the rest of the season. Expect 20 carries a game for the rookie in starts against San Diego, Denver and Tennessee. It shouldn't be too difficult for Kolby to play at the same level he did last week.

2. This week's QB plug-and-play is Washington's own Jason Campbell. With the horrific Sean Taylor situation present in every NFL fans' mind, it's hard to imagine that Washington won't come to play. Campbell has averaged 324 yards in his last two games against Dallas and Tampa Bay. Count on him to continue that production against a Buffalo defense that is allowing an average of 378 yards per game. Jason has been playing well and, if grief brings this team together, look for him to go on a tear for the next couple of weeks.

3. If you haven't been watching Green Bay recently (thanks, NFL Network!), you may have missed Greg Jennings playing some great football. He's only averaged 64 yards per game in his last three contests, but he has also had 4 touchdowns during that span. I think it's fair to say that Jennings is one of the Packers' red zone options and he has also emerged as a deep ball threat. If you can get him, he's a great option at the third receiver spot looking down the stretch.

Alright folks, hopefully your fantasy teams have been having better luck than me and my health. If your teams haven't, well, maybe things will look up now that I'm feeling better.

The regular season is about to end and, with it, a season of ups and downs. Let's not forget the journey that brought us here while we look forward to that championship. Good luck and I'll see you next week.
