Fantasy Falafel
2007 Season Week 10

By: Collin "Kool-Aid" Kilpatrick

If you're into fantasy football, then Kool-Aid is your man. This man has served in the trenches of statistical warfare, wrestled with the demons of the injured reserve and solved the mystery of the split backfield. After years of fantasy football experience Kool-Aid decided that it was time for him to impart his knowledge to the rest of the football universe. Each week he combs the league for the best match-ups and waiver wire pick-ups so you can be ready by kick-off. Soak up the wisdom in Kool-Aid's analysis below and if you're still thirsty for knowledge drop him a line at fantasyfalafel@gmail.com.

Now, on to your regularly scheduled Fantasy Falafel...

Although I hope your team has been more successful than mine this year, I do hope you shared a Week 9 win with me. Something about the world just seems more colorful after a win. Gardens are greener, roses more fragrant and the beach more enticing than ever. On that note, let's get on with this so I can catch some waves!

1. Ghosts of articles past: I'm not the kind of guy to say, "I told you so" but this week it looks like Priest Holmes and Chris Henry will both be on fantasy rosters. Injuries to Larry Johnson and Chad Johnson (that's weird) have thrust Holmes and Henry into their respective starting lineups. If they are still available in your league, they should be on your team. Henry will likely be the third option for the Bengals when Chad comes back, but he has a knack for big plays and should have longer staying power than Holmes. Unless reports of a broken bone in LJ's foot are confirmed, that is. Either way, grab these guys (Henry and Holmes) now.

2. It's the rare day that I suggest the addition of an Oakland Raider, so I think we should take a moment to realize the significance of this suggestion. Justin Fargas has been named the starting running back in Oakland for at least one week due to 104 yards and a touchdown in Week 9. Fargas faces a Bears defense that is allowing 5.7 yards per carry, but after that he finds himself running against some tough opponents in Minnesota, Kansas City, Green Bay and Indy. Fargas should be good this week, but probably not a lot of staying power to help you in the playoffs.

3. Ron Dayne ran for 122 yards and a TD on 21 carries last Sunday. But honestly, I'm pretty tired of Dayne already. I haven't written about him this year, but Ron has been a big tease the last couple of seasons. He has personally burned me when I needed him most. That said, Ron is a big boy who can rush, and if Ahman Green is unable to play after the bye week, Dayne should be a good option going forward. He's the riskiest pick of the week, so maybe you should pick him up and stow him away for potential. It's never too late (or early) to give yourself a playoff present.

Alright, off to the beach. Remember, your feedback is always welcomed and encouraged (I can always use some hate mail) and I wish you the best in Week 10. Now let's go out there and make the playoffs!
